A New Generation of Leadership for Central Florida
Why I’m Running
East Orlando Deserves a Champion Who’s Been in the Fight
Samuel Vilchez Santiago grew up in East Orlando, the son of political refugees who came to Florida seeking safety and opportunity. He struggled early on by relying on Medicaid, food stamps, and the support of public schools but this community gave him a shot. After graduating as Valedictorian at Colonial High School, he went on to earn honors degrees from Princeton University and the University of Oxford U.K Today, Samuel is a nonprofit leader, immigrant-rights advocate, and Chair of the Orange County Democratic Party. He's running to represent District 43 because he knows what it's like to grow up here, has spent his life fighting for the people who call it home, and wants every family in our community to have opportunities he has had to get ahead
Priorities for Florida
Affordable Housing
& Healthcare
Samuel will fight to rein in skyrocketing housing costs, expand Medicaid, and make sure every Floridian can access care without going broke.
Strong Public Schools
A proud graduate of Colonial High and Roberto Clemente Middle, Samuel will invest in our public schools, expand technical and dual enrollment programs, and hold voucher schools accountable.
Immigrant Protections
As a former political asylee, Samuel has led the fight for asylum seekers and TPS and DACA recipients. In Tallahassee, he’ll fight to repeal harmful anti-immigrant laws and defend every family.
